Manung Agwede is the husband and have anothe wife who lives in Awerial centre (the practice is wide-spread in South-Sudan). Mingkaman is the closest facility (20km away). Yar should deliver in January 2016. She never went to the facility but kids were vaccinated during an outreach activity. She has always delivered at home and she doesn’t want to deliver at the facility not to leve the kids alone here. She trust her TBA. She believes that god created two people, man and wife. She is the one taking responsability to deliver kids to her husband. sometimes challange is shortage of food and when they become sick. She coocks, take care of gots, collects water and wood for fire and does agriculture. The husband says that it is completly normal to have multiple wifes, somebody can have up to 5 wifes. To keep the two wives happy he has to distribute them food and money equally, which means that the first wife gets more and have more power. Family of the first wife is also very important and the other wife can visit him at this house too. The husband is now thinking of finding a third wife. South-Sudan has one of the highest child and maternal mortality rate in the world. 1 women out of 30 risks of dieing for reasons related to pregancy and delivering. 1 child out of 10 dies before reaching the age of 5 for reasons related to deseas easily preventable or curable; malnutrition is a key factor.
