Info

Peckham, London Borough of southwark. December 2010

During the 1990s the area became the archetypal London no-go zone and many squats were established there. The North Peckham estate,
which was demolished in 2002, became the symbol of this extremely dangerous area ruled by the Peckham Boys gang.

After a £290 million regeneration programme, which took place in the late 1990s, the physical regeneration process is now completed. However the insecurity can still be clearly felt while walking down the streets, wrapped by the darkness.
