28 Jul 2015 - Frontline South of Kirkuk, Iraq. A PKK unit 2km away from IS. PKK, Kurdistan Workers Party, has been fighting IS/Daesh since the start of the war one year ago along with Peshmerga but Turkey started an air strike campaign in the areas under their control in Norther Iraq claiming that they are a threat to Turkey's national security; PKK fighters say that they fight to procted their people (Kurds) and humanity as a whole against what is the biggest, richest and most powerful terrorist group in history (IS/Daesh).The city of Kirkuk has been annexed to Iraqi Kurdistan during the offense against IS/Daesh. The Kurdish Regional Government has extended its territory control of over 40% since the start of the current conflict.
