ITALY, Novara - Piedmont [Region] 11.03.2020. Italy is recording more than 10000 positive cases of Covid19 in the worst outbreak in Europe as the country is facing a total lockdown and restriction to movements outside each home (people are still allowed to go to work if requested by the company). Piedmont, Lombardy and Veneto Regions are requesting for even stronger measures to face the threat of the Pandemic such as a total closure of production and any kind of non-essential services. In the hospital of Novara there are 18 patients with conditions related to Covid19 while Civil Protection is organizing a new service to deliver basic goods to people older than 65 to prevent any unnecessary exposure to the infection. At present, public transport is still operational although very little people are around, shops are mainly closed by their own choice and Police forces are implementing security checks and written explanation of reasons to travel are now requested by law.
